Inzamam hearing gets under way

Inzamam ul-Haq arrived at The Oval in London on Wednesday for the start of a hearing where the Pakistan captain will answer disciplinary charges arising from his role in the team’s unprecedented forfeit of the fourth Test against England at the south London ground last month. Inzamam has been accused of ball-tampering, as captain, and bringing cricket into disrepute.

Australia crush West Indies to win DLF Cup

Australia crushed the West Indies by 127 runs to win the DLF Cup final on Sunday and send a chilling warning to their rivals ahead of the Champions Trophy next month. Set 241 to win, the West Indies were skittled out for 113 from 34,2 overs, unable to deal with the power and accuracy of Australia’s top-notch bowling attack.

England sneak home against Pakistan

Sajid Mahmood starred with both bat and ball as England fell over the line to beat Pakistan by three wickets in the fifth and final one-day international at Edgbaston on Sunday and so end the series all square at 2-2. Set a meagre 155 to win, England finished on 155-7 with 19 overs to spare.

England’s dismal one-day record continues

Younis Khan’s 101 was the centrepiece of Pakistan’s two-wicket win over England in the day/night third one-day international at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Tuesday. Pakistan, cruising to victory at 215-4, did suffer a late collapse that saw them lose three wickets for nine runs as they declined to 265-8, with fast bowler Stuart Broad striking twice in two balls.

Akhtar helps Pakistan to victory over England

Shoaib Akhtar set up Pakistan’s seven-wicket win over England in the second one-day international at Lord’s in London on Saturday as the tourists went 1-0 up in the five-match series. Akhtar finished with four for 28 from his permitted eight overs, while his miserly new-ball partner Mohammad Asif took two for 10, also in eight overs.

Rain ends England’s losing streak

Rain ended England’s run of seven straight limited-overs defeats as the first one-day international against Pakistan ended in a no-result at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Wednesday. Pakistan, chasing a revised target of 159 in 32 overs after a rain break, were 46 for one off seven overs when a second downpour ended the match.

Inzamam: Hair in ‘big trouble’

Pakistan captain Inzamam ul-Haq has said umpire Darrell Hair is now in ”big trouble” as the ball-tampering row took a new twist. Pakistan Cricket Board chiefs on Tuesday called on the International Cricket Council to hold an inquiry into the conduct of 53-year-old Australian umpire Hair before disciplinary charges, due to be heard late next month, are considered against Inzamam.
