Sacked Zimbabwean information minister Jonathan Moyo has been linked to a new coalition of independent candidates that will contest the March general election as a united front. Independent candidates expelled from both the opposition Movement for Democratic Change and the ruling Zanu-PF party have formed a network that is likely to transform into a political party.

Zimbabwe’s beleaguered Information Minister, Jonathan Moyo, is facing yet another blow to his faltering career at a time when he is battling for his political life. Having failed to secure election to the central committee of the ruling Zanu-PF last week, Moyo is now likely to be barred from taking part in the forthcoming primary elections.
With the 2005 parliamentary election in Zimbabwe beckoning, never has the Matabeleland region witnessed so many promises of development from President Robert Mugabe’s government. Development projects worth about a trillion-Zimbabwean dollars have been promised.
