World leaders will seek on Thursday to agree an action plan to tackle the global food crisis after three days of wrangling.
Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe accused the West on Tuesday of seeking to provoke "illegal regime change" by crippling his country economically. Speaking at a summit on the global food crisis, the veteran leader accused the West of using non-governmental bodies and opposition parties to try and bring him down.
British police were criticised on Thursday over the mistaken killing of an innocent Brazilian man in the wake of the 2005 London bombings, although the head of Scotland Yard himself escaped censure. The long-awaited report found ”serious weaknesses” in police management, and in particular said a top officer misled his boss and the public.

Britain said on Friday it was "getting to the bottom" of a militant cell behind last week’s failed attacks, amid tight security ahead of the anniversary of London’s July 2005 suicide bombings. The cautiously upbeat assessment came after Australian police searched two hospitals and questioned five doctors over the London and Glasgow attacks.
Police detained a sixth doctor on Tuesday over the failed bombings in London and Glasgow, as Britain remained on maximum alert for another al-Qaeda-style attack. A Jordanian neurosurgeon and an Iraqi doctor were also among eight suspects being questioned as the probe spread around the world with the detention of an Indian physician in Australia.
