Bay of Pigs veteran hopes for last glimpse of Cuba

Forty-five years after taking part in the failed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba, Tomas Vazquez has no fight left in him, and simply dreams of seeing the island he loves one last time before he dies. ”I am old, I’m tired,” says Vazquez surrounded by Cuban memorabilia and a dozen former comrades-in-arms. ”My only hope is to be able to spend a week in Cuba, come back and die.”

Father’s ‘grave concern’ for Schiavo

As the life of brain-damaged Terri Schiavo hung by a thread on Tuesday, her father feared doctors might hasten her death with morphine, while her husband requested that an autopsy be performed after she dies to prove the extent of her incapacitation. ”He’s requested this very strongly,” said Michael Schiavo’s lawyer.

Judge rules in right-to-die case

A federal judge in Tampa, Florida, rejected a bid to reinsert the feeding tube sustaining the life of a brain-damaged woman whose plight has sparked an emotional debate over the ”right to die”. The woman’s parents will now likely take their case to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, Georgia, lawyers said.
