Irresponsible journalism

I take this opportunity to protect my integrity and good name, in response to your article ”MTN deal still on ice” (July 1). While I believe in a free press, I understand such to come with great responsibility. In this instance I am extremely disappointed by the failure on the part of the Mail & Guardian to apply the high standards of vigorous journalism that it purports to espouse.

Star newspaper slammed for irresponsible journalism

The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) on Wednesday criticised The Star’s HIV/Aids reporting and pleaded for responsible journalism. ”That was a dangerous headline,” said TAC treasurer Mark Heywood, ”It will cause fear”. The headline in question, on the Johannesburg newspaper’s front page, was: ”Aids drug risk for mothers”.
