Wits let Chiefs off the hook

Kaizer Chiefs were let off the hook by Wits University at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday night while gaining only their third Premier League win in 17 games this season to vault four places into a flattering eighth position in the log. But, it must be concluded, the Wits side played distinctly dumb soccer and were their own worst enemies while going down 2-0.

Downs turn the tables on AmaZulu

Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns turned the tables on AmaZulu and gained a timely 2-1 victory at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Monday night to avenge a home defeat by a similar margin against the Durban team earlier in the season.

Downs, Birds edge home in Atteridgeville

In the wake of much bravado preceding what was termed the ”Gauteng Challenge”, Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows edged home on penalty kicks against Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United respectively in what were no more than gloried friendlies at Atteridgeville’s Super Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Bafana hope for a miracle

The final countdown has started for Bafana Bafana as they take on Senegal in the last first-round fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana on Thursday night with only a soccer miracle seemingly able to earn them a place in the quarterfinals. Senegal, meanwhile, are in the same precarious position as South Africa.
