Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp insisted on Thursday a police probe into corruption in football had nothing to do with him. In a statement at the English Premier League club’s Eastleigh training ground, Redknapp said he was ”bitterly disappointed” to have been arrested on Wednesday and had been left ”deeply hurt” by the incident.

Côte d’Ivoire government troops and rebels controlling the country’s north will start to disarm by December 22 before forming a new national army, a foreign peace mediator said on Thursday. An extra R87-million has been allocated to help people living in extreme poverty, Social Development Minister Zola Skweyiya said on Thursday.
