Ernie Els has told Colin Montgomerie to stop ”shooting his mouth off” after the Scottish star hit out at the South African for skipping the European Tour’s season-ending Volvo Masters in Spain. ”I know where he’s coming from so it’s no surprise,” said Els in response to Montgomerie’s comments.

Turkey on Thursday stepped up pressure on northern Iraq, imposing economic sanctions over the safe haven Kurdish rebels enjoy, as Washington said it was supplying Ankara with intelligence on the separatists’ positions. "We have prepared a list of economic measures targeting the financial resources of the terrorist organisation," Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan said.

Singapore Airlines, the first operator of the new Airbus A380, has dashed the hopes of sexual thrill-seekers planning to engage in amorous activity aboard the world’s biggest jumbo jet. The carrier said it would ask passengers on the A380 to refrain from sex while ensconced in one of its 12 first-class suites.

Yet, he’s managed to escape justice for years. The ICTR was set up in northern Tanzania by the United Nations in 1995 to bring high-level perpetrators of the Rwandan genocide to justice.

At least 554 Iraqis were killed in the month of October in insurgent and sectarian attacks, according to the latest figures from Iraq’s three ministries. The data from the Interior, Defence and Health Ministries indicate that the death toll in October is one of the lowest since an attack on a Shi’ite shrine in February last year.

America’s execution chambers fell idle on Wednesday after the Supreme Court made it clear it will allow no more prisoners to be put to death until it reviews the legality of the lethal injection. Death penalty campaigners on Wednesday said they expected the informal moratorium to last at least until next summer.
