News and weather top SA online hits

South Africans spend most of their time on news and weather internet sites when they are online, a study done in August by global internet media and market researcher NetRatings has revealed. News and weather sites account for 23% of the time that South Africans spend online, which translates into about 1,1-million hours.

Japan PM Abe quits after year of scandal, crisis

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe abruptly announced his resignation on Wednesday after a year in power dogged by scandals, an election rout and a crisis over Japan’s support for United States-led operations in Afghanistan. The hawkish Abe, who took office promising to boost Japan’s global security profile, had seen his clout dwindle.

Guilty verdicts in Pennington rape trial

Three men accused of raping three Durban women at a Pennington beach house on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast were found guilty in the Scottburgh High Court on Wednesday. The three were found guilty of five counts of rape. They were also found guilty of indecent assault and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
