Judge shot dead in Turkish court

A Turkish lawyer shouting: ”I am a soldier of Allah,” opened fire in the country’s top administrative court on Wednesday, killing one judge and injuring four others. Witnesses described how the gunman shouted, ”Allahu Akbar” (God is most great) as he fired a handgun in the court’s second chamber.

Mittal Steel to finally launch bid for Arcelor

Mittal Steel is to formally launch on Thursday a takeover bid for European rival Arcelor that would create the undisputed world champion of steel groups.
When trading begins on the Belgian, French and Luxembourg stock exchanges, Arcelor shareholders will have a chance to exchange their equity for Mittal shares and cash via an offer that currently values Arcelor at €22-billion $28-billion.

Cabinet condemns strike violence

Cabinet has urged striking security guards and their employers to resolve their differences and end violent protests. Briefing the media after Cabinet’s meeting at Parliament on Wednesday, government communications head Joel Netshitenzhe said Cabinet once more condemned in the strongest terms the acts of violence by some demonstrators.
