United hammer Bush Bucks

Supersport United hammered the Eastern Cape outfit Bush Bucks 3-1 in a closely contested Castle Premier Soccer League match in East London on Tuesday. Bush Bucks opened the score in the 27th minute when former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder-cum-striker Simphiwe Mambo finished a loose ball in a scramble.

Real Madrid must not panic, says coach

Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo insists the team mustn’t panic in the face of a dismal start to the season that continued with a 3-0 Champions League defeat to Lyon. The thrashing at Stade Gerland on Wednesday came four days after the team’s 3-2 home loss against newly promoted Celta Vigo in the Spanish league.

Court overturns UDM expulsions

The Cape High Court on Wednesday overturned a decision of the United Democratic Movement to expel seven of its members, including deputy leader Malizole Diko. The ruling means that two MPs and five MPLs can cross the floor before the floor-crossing period ends at midnight on Thursday evening.

Survival of the fittest in Gulf aviation market

A new airline will soon take to the skies in Kuwait but only the leanest of the Gulf’s growing number of carriers will survive the cut-throat competition in the region’s oil-rich market, analysts said on Wednesday. Most of the nine airlines owned by the six Gulf Arab states, which this year are forecast to boast -billion in windfall oil revenues, depend on government support and tax breaks.
