Cabinet ministers from 11 African countries gathered in Rwanda on Thursday to flesh out details of a deal intended to end a cycle of wars, rebellions, dictatorships and poverty in central Africa’s Great Lakes region. Officials are expected to spell out how they would implement a regional pact on security, stability and development.

Lamontville Golden Arrows hammered Mamelodi Sundowns 5-2 in an entertaining Castle Premiership encounter played at King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Manchester United skipper Roy Keane has hit out at ”diving” in the Premiership and insists it’s a problem that is getting worse. The 33-year-old Republic of Ireland international is becoming increasingly irritated by the number of players collapsing to the ground under no, or minimal, contact. He was a victim himself at Highbury earlier this month.

Orlando Pirates’ Benedict Vilakazi, who was this week charged with the alleged rape of a minor, put his problems off the field behind him as he helped steer the Bucs to a 3-1 victory over Manning Rangers and a nine-point lead at the top of the Castle Premiership. Top seed Andy Roddick eased into the quarterfinals of the ATP side of the men’s and women’s tennis tournaments playing in Memphis on Wednesday with a straight-set victory over France’s Arnaud Clement. Roddick, seeking his 17th career ATP title and his second in as many weeks, cruised past Clement 6-3, 6-3 in a second-round clash.
