Lamontville Golden Arrows hammered Mamelodi Sundowns 5-2 in an entertaining Castle Premiership encounter played at King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The home side led 2-1 at the interval.
The first goal of this game was netted by Ezrom Nyandoro in the fifth minute to the delight of Brazilians supporters who came out in large numbers to watch this thriller.
Their joy was short-lived as the home side equalised through Lucky ”Y2K” Sibeko in the 19th minute — this after receiving an excellent pass from Joseph Henyekanye, who was a thorn in the flesh of Downs players whenever in possession.
Thokozani Mshengu put Arrows in the lead for the first time in this game just four minutes after the equaliser.
In the second half, the home side continued with their dominance, which resulted in a goal in the 47th minute when Mshengu completed his brace.
A minute later, Bafana Bafana defender Thabiso Rammile reduced the deficit when he netted the Brazilians’ second goal to make the scoreline 3-2.
But the visitors’ hope were shattered in the 52nd minute by Mabhuti Khanyeza, who scored after combining well with Sibeko.
Henyekanye put the final nail in the coffin of the Brazilians in the 60th minute.
This was the first win for Khabonina Zondo who rejoined Arrows as a coach a couple of weeks ago from Sundowns. He lost in his first two games against Supersport United and Wits University. — Sapa
