The African National Congress Youth League on Friday issued a statement in reaction to a Mail & Guardian report on Friday that listed ANCYL president Fikile Mbalula among African National Congress members with business interests. The league challenged the M&G to disclose Mbalula’s business interests.

Burundi president appoints new deputy

Burundian President Domitien Ndayizeye appointed Frederic Ngenzebuhoro (52) on Thursday as his a new vice-president to replace the dismissed Alphonse Marie Kadege. Ndayizeye made the appointment following a session of the Senate and the National Assembly, during which 196 MPs endorsed the choice of Ngenzebuhoro.

Rwandan rebel group agrees to rape inquiry

A Rwandan rebel force based in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Friday affirmed its readiness to cooperate in any inquiry into alleged rapes in the region. The Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda is a mainly Hutu group of fighters, including remnants of those who carried out the 1994 genocide in Rwanda

DataPro backs Ngcaba on Telkom deal

Amid a flurry of negative comments about the consortium led by Andile Ngcaba that is proposing to buy a 15,1% stake in Telkom from Thintana, telecommunications firm DataPro Group on Friday came out in support of the deal. However, DataPro is concerned about Smuts Ngonyama’s involvement.

Men’s advocacy groups throughout the United States are up in arms over a television commercial for cellphones that portrays fathers as dumb and dispensable. It shows a father perplexed by his small daughter’s homework before being humiliated and dispatched from the kitchen by the exasperated child and mother.
