It’s funny that the guys who probably personally ordered 9/11 (Haliburton Oil’s ex-CEO Dick Cheney and the son of the former head of the CIA, George Bush) had to hold each other’s hands during the whitewash known as the 9/11 commission. It is not often that an empowerment deal is hailed as "profound" — the term applied to Dimension Data SA’s recently announced agreement. Though it may not be as unique as the praise suggests, it has touched a chord among empowerment analysts. Two recent studies have shown we now become adults much later in life. Adulthood being judged not on the budding of breasts (which these days applies to both sexes) or the ability to vote, but on when one moves away from home, is financially independent or starts a family. But it seems we’ve got it all the wrong way around. We want children to grow up really fast, and as adults we want to be the children we never were.

A Groot Marico community has slipped through the cracks of the restitution process after purportedly being promised houses after the 1994 election. The people of the 1972 Wonderfontein community, now living in Lehurutshe, were evicted from their land during the apartheid years. These apartheid-era evictees have missed out on housing compensation because of broken promises and red tape.

Tiger Woods withdrew from the PGA’s 84 Lumber Classic, tournament officials announced on Tuesday, citing exhaustion after the United States’s loss to Europe in the Ryder Cup. ”I wasn’t ready physically and mentally,” Woods said on Tuesday. ”The Ryder Cup did take a lot out of me.”
