‘Developments’ in Kekana trial
The government in Zimbabwe has proposed new contracts for all internet service providers (ISPs) that will force them to block content or report ”malicious messages” to the authorities. The proposed contract obliges ISPs to ”take all necessary measures to prevent” content inconsistent with Zimbabwe laws to be carried on its network.
The European Union’s executive commission might launch an antitrust action against United States soft-drink giant Coca-Cola even as it seeks a settlement with the group, a commission spokesperson said on Tuesday. ”We have decided that both ways are possible,” said a spokesperson.
The governor of Najaf said on Tuesday a fresh truce has been reached between United States-led coalition forces and the militia of firebrand cleric Moqtada al-Sadr in an effort to end weeks of battles. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, boosted by high opinion poll ratings, was turning to Egypt and the United States on Tuesday to help him push through his troubled plan to pull out of Gaza. Sharon’s bureau chief is to meet in Washington with Bush administration officials who have already stated their support for the project.
