India rock Aussies in Test

India have Australia fighting a desperate rearguard in the second cricket Test after capturing five second-innings wickets on the fourth day at the Adelaide Oval in Australia on Monday. Rahul Dravid overtook Sunil Gavaskar’s 221 against England at The Oval in 1979 to become the highest Indian Test scorer outside India to date.

SA surfer to battle world’s top 45

Surfer Greg Emslie on Sunday qualified for a place on the 2004 World Championship Tour, the elite circuit of events contested by the world’ s top 45 surfers that determines the annual Association of Surfing Professionals world champion. “I’m over the moon,” said a delighted Emslie.

Dynamos celebrate inaugural win

Dynamos registered their first league victory of the season with an easy 3-1 victory over a clueless SuperSport United at Securicor Loftus on Sunday. The visitors were the first ones to crack the ice as early as the fifth minute through striker Joel Seroba, who finished a cross from the right flank.

Cosmos in fine comeback

Jomo Cosmos came back from behind to beat Zulu Royals 2-1 in a fast and entertaining PSL soccer match played at Makhulong stadium on Sunday. Royals scored as early as the fourth minute, when a Thabiso Malatsi strike rebounded off the post, allowing Bashin Mhlangu to tap in for the only goal of the first half.

Car bombs kills 17 policemen in Iraq

A car bomb killed 17 policemen and wounded 30 more at a police station in western Iraq on Sunday, police lieutenant Faiz Mohammad Motab and witnesses said. ”An explosion went off near the gate of the station. It killed 17 and wounded 30 policemen, including senior officers and the ranks. There’s a big hole outside the gate about three or four metres across and more than two metres deep, and the outside wall was knocked down.”
