Substitute Nia Kuenzer scored in extra time on Sunday as Germany came from behind to win the Women’s World Cup for the first time after beating Sweden 2-1. Kuenzer headed in a free kick from Renate Lingor in the eighth minute of extra time, just beating Sweden goalkeeper Caroline Jonsson.

England are facing a scrum-half crisis after injuries to Matt Dawson and Kyran Bracken left them with just one fit No.9 ahead of Saturday’s World Cup crunch match against South Africa. Dawson suffered a bang to his leg while Bracken was replaced on the bench moments before kick-off in England’s 84-6 win over Georgia.

Day three of the Rugby World Cup and the scores are getting bigger. As if to outshine France’s 61 points, New Zealand’s 70 and South Africa’s 72, England romped to an 84-6 crushing of rookie Georgia on Sunday. While the French and All Blacks can wait until later in the championship, that SA 72-6 result against Uruguay was a target for Clive Woodward’s men.

Nigeria has lodged a request for judicial cooperation with Switzerland as part of an ongoing probe into an alleged multi-billion-dollar embezzlement by the late military dictator Sani Abacha. Abacha, who died in 1998, is suspected of having looted the Nigerian treasury to the tune of about ,2-billion.
