Zim officials fingered in steel company probe

Officials interviewed by Zimbabwe’s National Economic Conduct Inspectorate (Neci) over the alleged looting by senior politicians at the state-owned steel-making enterprise Zisco, have threatened to spill the beans. Zisco employees said this week that they were ready to reveal the names of top government officials allegedly involved in pillaging the firm.

Zille meets Mufamadi for round two of talks

Cape Town mayor Helen Zille met Minister of Provincial and Local Government Sydney Mufamadi on Friday for a second round of discussions on the African National Congress’s plan to change the city’s form of government. The two met last week, with Western Cape provincial minister of local government and housing Richard Dyantyi present.

Leon points finger at kowtowing opposition

Israel may bomb along border with Egypt

Israel may soon use ”smart” bombs on the narrow border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip to destroy tunnels used to smuggle weapons into the Palestinian territory, an Israeli newspaper reported on Friday. Maariv said weapons would be used to penetrate deep underground in the hope of destroying the tunnel network that Israel says riddles the narrow border area.

Judge adjourns Madonna case to November 13

A judge in Malawi adjourned to November 13 a hearing into an application by child rights groups trying to block the adoption of a Malawian boy by pop star Madonna. Yohane Banda, father of one-year-old David, went to the court in Lilongwe, saying his presence was a symbolic protest against the legal moves to halt the adoption.
