World championship leader Lewis Hamilton this week rested at his hotel ahead of the weekend’s Formula One world title showdown, knowing he will need all his energy and focus to emerge triumphant from a three-way battle for glory. As the sprawling city of São Paulo buzzed with anticipation, the 22-year-old Briton and his main rival, Fernando Alonso, kept a low profile.

Although Lewis Hamilton couldn’t wrap up the Formula One title in the Chinese Grand Prix, he is still in a position to make history as the circuit’s youngest champion. Since the Englishman was nine years old he has nurtured a dream of following in the steps of former champions Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and Alain Prost.
Has there ever been a face quite as misleading as Lewis Hamilton’s? With the sweetest of smiles, pencil-thin sideburns and an almost hairless face, he looks like a cherub in leathers. But don’t be fooled. Hamilton is one of the toughest men in sport.
