Downtown Atlanta struck by tornado

A tornado hit downtown Atlanta on Friday night, causing several injuries and damaging buildings, including the roof of the Georgia Dome where thousands were watching a college basketball game, police and witnesses said. Nine people were taken to hospitals, one in serious condition, as a result of the heavy storm, police said.

Goals rain on Africa Cup

The goals continued to flow at the Africa Cup of Nations with nine more on Tuesday taking the tally to 20 and a promise of more attacking play to come on Wednesday. Mohamed Zidan scored two spectacular goals in the first half on Tuesday to lead defending champion Egypt to a 4-2 win over shaky Cameroon.

Premiership duo on target for Senegal

English Premiership duo Diomansy Kamara and Henri Camara were on target as Senegal overcame Namibia 3-1 in Dakar as the countdown to the 2008 African Cup of Nations continued this weekend. Guinea defeated Sudan in Spain for the second time within 24 hours, but after dishing out a 6-0 drubbing, this time they had to settle for a lone-goal victory.
