A mystery man made his 58th straight visit to Edgar Allan Poe’s grave on Friday morning and was watched by the largest group of onlookers to date, the event’s most faithful viewer said. Jeff Jerome, curator of the Poe House and Museum, said 55 people braved a chilly morning to catch a glimpse of the annual ritual.

T Edward Hambleton, a founder of off-Broadway’s influential Phoenix Theatre, has died at age 94. Hambleton died on Saturday at the Greater Baltimore medical centre of complications from an esophageal tumour, his son-in-law, Ken Buhler, said on Monday.

Pluto has three moons, not one, new images from the Hubble space telescope suggest. Pluto, discovered as the ninth planet in 1930, was thought to be alone until its moon Charon was spotted in 1978. The new moons, more than twice as far away as Charon and many times fainter, were spotted by Hubble in May.
Drugs alone will not help Africa beat HIV/Aids, one of the scientists who discovered the virus that causes the disease said on Thursday at an African business summit. Robert Gallo said merely providing drugs to countries battling HIV/Aids ”is not scientifically sound” and that it will give rise to multi-drug resistant strains.

Microsoft developed policies stressing the systematic destruction of internal e-mails and other documents crucial to lawsuits it has faced in recent years, a California software company alleges. Burst.com, in court papers unsealed this week, also accuses Microsoft of destroying e-mails crucial to Burst’s lawsuit against the software giant even after the trial judge ordered it to retain the documents.

A federal judge ruled that a California company can send ”pop-up” internet ads that regulators have called ”high-tech extortion” — at least until the matter is decided at a trial.
