Former England boss Kevin Keegan said the bung scandal engulfing English football was a storm in a tea cup. Though Keegan managed Newcastle, Fulham and Manchester City in a high-profile career he said he never once came across irregular payments in more than 13 years in management.
Former Celtic manager Billy McNeill said had he been in charge of the club at the time he would never have signed Roy Keane, who has retired from football, the Scottish Sun reported on Tuesday. The 34-year-old Irishman, who was plagued by a hip injury last season, announced his retirement after just 13 appearances and one goal for the Hoops.
Scottish champions Celtic have confirmed that they are in talks with South African international Quinton Fortune, aimed at signing the former Manchester United midfielder. Fortune (29) was released by United at the end of the season after an injury plagued seven years at Old Trafford, but he has been recommended to Celtic by his former teammate, Roy Keane.

Celtic star Roy Keane has warned he may be forced to retire from the game after his latest injury setback. The former Manchester United skipper limped off with a hamstring injury in Celtic’s 3-0 League Cup victory over Dunfermline on Sunday. Keane thinks the injury could be linked to his troublesome hip, which has plagued him throughout his career.
Former Scotland winger Jimmy Johnstone, best known as one of the ”Lisbon Lions” when Celtic became the first British team to win the European Cup in 1967, died on Monday. He was 61. Johnstone became an active campaigner for stem-cell research after being diagnosed with motor neuron disease in November 2001.

Roy Keane’s long-cherished dream of ending his career in the famous green and white hoops of Celtic was realised on Thursday when the former Manchester United skipper signed for the Scottish club. Keane, who parted company with United last month, has signed an 18-month deal.
Celtic crashed out of European competition for the season, but Tuesday’s 4-0 win at home to Slovakian champions Artmedia Bratislava restored some pride. Goals from Alan Thompson, John Hartson, Stephen McManus and Craig Beattie almost allowed the Glasgow giants to overturn their 5-0 defeat from the first leg.
