Titans unconvincing but still unbeaten

The Titans maintained their unbeaten record in the MTN domestic championship this season with a four-wicket victory over the Highveld Lions in a rain-shortened match at the Wanderers on Friday. Chasing a modest total of 139 in 38 overs to win, the Titans looked far from convincing as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

The row over selection issues that has erupted between Proteas coach Mickey Arthur and Cricket South Africa (CSA) president Norman Arendse is to be handled internally. CSA chief executive Gerald Majola said on Friday that the CSA had formal human-resource procedures for dealing with disputes.

Duminy guides SA to victory

JP Duminy scored a career-best 79 not out to guide South Africa to a six-wicket victory over West Indies on Sunday in the first game of their five-match one-day series. South Africa won with 12 balls to spare after scoring 176 for four in reply to West Indies’ total of 175. Rain reduced the match to 36 overs a side.

Pollock’s farewell starts in victory

Shaun Pollock’s farewell tour of South Africa started in triumph when he steered his team to victory in a Twenty20 international against the West Indies at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday. Pollock top-scored with 36 not out off 25 balls as South Africa won by four wickets with four balls to spare.

Dolphins seem poised for the kill

With one day left in their SuperSport Series match at Buffalo Park in East London against the Warriors, the Dolphins were poised for the kill at the close of play on Saturday. The sun in Paarl shone slightly more on the Cape Cobras than on the visiting Lions, and in Benoni, the Titans and the Diamond Eagles appeared to be heading for a draw.
