Dozens die in Mexico truck-blast accident

Thirty-seven people were killed when a truck loaded with explosives crashed into another truck in an accident in northern Mexico, Mexican media reported on Monday. About 150 people were injured by the blast, which left a crater of up to 20m in diameter in the road in the northern state of Coahuila, the El Universal daily said on its website, quoting police.

Hayden consolidates lead with MotoGP win

American Nicky Hayden won the United States motorcycling Grand Prix for the second straight year on Sunday, strengthening his grip on the title chase as Valentino Rossi failed to finish. Hayden, who won here last year when the MotoGP series returned to the US for the first time in a decade, started from the second row and seized the lead on the 17th lap.

France take inaugural A1 season title

France, with 22-year-old Nicolas Lapierre behind the wheel, wrapped up the championship in the first season of the A1 Grand Prix of Nations by finishing second to Mexico in a 30-minute sprint race on Sunday. Mexico’s 20-year-old Salvador Duran made it a doubleheader sweep for his team in the main race.
