An alleged robber was shot and killed and a man was in a serious condition after shots were fired during a robbery in Rosebank on Tuesday. Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman said the shooting happened at about 12.30pm near the corner of Jan Smuts Avenue and Bolton Road.

Young and old braved the cold and rainy weather in Johannesburg on Friday to gather singing and screaming outside Sasol’s head office in Rosebank to cheer the World Cup-winning Springboks on their victory parade. Hundreds of fans waited patiently in the rain for a glimpse of the Webb Ellis trophy.

SA Rugby has confirmed details of the Springboks’ victory tour, starting on Friday, to honour the team’s World Cup-winning performance in France. South African Rugby Union president Oregan Hoskins has appealed to the public to join in the celebrations by wearing green and gold.
One year into the construction of railways of South Africa’s first partly underground express train, the focus is on the completion of routes that are crucial for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Transport Minister Jeff Radebe visited the sites of the Johannesburg and Rosebank rail tracks and stations on Wednesday.
