Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang has been admitted to the intensive-care unit of the Johannesburg General Hospital. According to media reports on Thursday, she is on a ventilator. She was admitted to the same hospital last year for several weeks after reportedly suffering from a lung infection.

Kemp J Kemp, counsel for Zuma, accused the state of not complying with its constitutional obligation to provide a final indictment.
Former Labour Party leader and later African National Congress MP Reverend Allan Hendrickse died suddenly on Wednesday afternoon, his family confirmed. Hendrickse’s son, Peter, also an ANC MP, said his father suffered a fatal heart attack at the Port Elizabeth airport at about 2pm on Wednesday.

An explosion hit a United States military base in the Iraqi city of Mosul on Tuesday, causing multiple casualties. US media reported that 22 people died in the explosion, including US and Iraqi military personnel, and more than 50 were wounded. The White House reacted by saying it will not let violence "derail" democracy in Iraq.
The Presidency has confirmed that the five-year contract of the Deputy Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, Gill Marcus, expires on Wednesday. South African National Defence Force chief Siphiwe Nyanda on Thursday visited three soldiers at Pretoria’s 1 Military hospital who were injured while on peacekeeping duty in the Democratic Republic of Congo last week. One of the patients recounted how he and his colleagues were ambushed.
