Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has cautioned against the communist party’s consideration of independently contesting the 2019 general elections.
The general secretary urged members not to shy away from openly talking about succession as new leaders will be elected during the congress.
Mapaila said having Ramaphosa address the gathering would help avoid tension between the SACP and its ANC allies.
Mapaila has been one of the most vocal critics of Zuma, demanding that he step down as the head of state.
Maimane’s comments alluded to tweets sent last week by DA Western Cape Premier Helen Zille.
The general secretary has lashed out at those in the ANC who have a ‘Guptarisation’ agenda
SACP deputy general secretary Solly Mapaila also lauded the achievements of late Cuban Revolution icon Fidel Castro.
The ANC’s National Executive Committee’s sub-committee on communications has distanced itself from the banning of the coverage of violent protests.
Utterances by the communist party belie the claim that all is well in the alliance.
With two of the South African Communist Party’s senior leaders now ministers, Solly Mapaila is set to run the show, and take over from Blade Nzimande.
