Dolphins trounce Eagles in Pro20 semifinal

The first Standard Bank Pro20 semifinal bubbled and fizzed on Friday night as the Dolphins produced a powerful performance to defeat the Diamond Eagles by five wickets at Kingsmead. It was an amazing turnaround by the Dolphins, who were crushed by ten wickets when the two teams met earlier in the competition.

Series starts hotting up

”Chanderpaul!” Makhaya Ntini’s urgent screech cut through the banal burble of Cape Town’s shambolic excuse for an airport like a new razor blade meeting a virgin cheek on a Highveld winter’s morning. Ntini was the first of South Africa’s players to pass through the security check, despite having to go through that tedious process with a wife, a lively young son and a gurgling baby.

SA snatch win from New Zealand

An undefeated 52 by AB de Villiers helped South Africa to a three-wicket victory over New Zealand in the Standard Bank Pro20 at the Wanderers on Friday night. Needing 130 to win, South Africa made 131 for seven, with a ball to spare. New Zealand will rue their dropped catches, especially a De Villiers drop.

Arthur delighted by Twenty20 victory

South African cricket coach Mickey Arthur was understandably delighted that his team managed to take their experience from the Standard Bank Pro20 Series into the international arena when they hammered the West Indies by eight wickets in an impressive start to the Twenty20 World Championship at the Wanderers on Monday night.
