Informal settlements worst hit by coastal downpour
Heavy downpours on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast have broken four rainfall records, one of them dating back to 1964, and claimed at least four lives.
A 36-year old man, accused of murdering eleven KwaZulu-Natal women and dumping their bodies in sugarcane fields, will be tried in the Ramsgate High Court. Thozamile Taki and his alleged accomplice Hlengiwe Nene appeared briefly in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where Magistrate Giel van Aarde ordered that they be held in custody until the trial starts on November 17.
The case against a 36-year-old man, accused of murdering 11 KwaZulu-Natal women and dumping their bodies in sugar-cane fields, was postponed on Monday in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court for further investigation. Magistrate Giel van Aarde postponed the case until April 23.

The case against a 36-year-old man accused of murdering 10 KwaZulu-Natal women and dumping their bodies in sugar-cane fields was remanded on Friday in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court for further investigation. The courtroom was packed with relatives, and outside the court there was a heavy police presence.

The case against two men and a woman accused of abducting and murdering five women whose bodies were found in sugar-cane fields on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast was on Wednesday remanded to October 10. The initial appearance of the three was heard in camera, on request from the state.
