Two men were injured when an unidentified man shot at them in a News Café on Rivonia Boulevard in Johannesburg on Sunday, paramedics said. ”A man was found lying on the floor by the door at News Café around 6pm. He had a gunshot wounds on both his legs, his head, chest and arm,” said spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

A schoolgirl was killed by a stray bullet fired during a shoot-out between robbers and security guards at a house in Fairlands, Johannesburg, on Tuesday morning, said police. The three robbers have since been arrested, said Captain Siphiwe Ndlovu.

Emergency personnel were on Saturday still searching for survivors after part of the Carnival City shopping complex near Brakpan on the East Rand in Gauteng partially collapsed into a parking area, killing three people. Netcare 911 spokesperson Mark Stokoe said an exterior wall of the mall had collapsed on to a car.

Two commuters and a taxi driver were injured when they were caught in the crossfire of a taxi-violence shoot-out in Edenvale on Thursday. Ekurhuleni metro police spokesperson Inspector Jimmy Maboko said between 100 and 150 members of the Germiston Taxi Association and the Tembisa Taxi Association had gathered and began shooting at each other.

A container truck ploughed into six vehicles in Louis Botha Avenue, Johannesburg, on Monday, leaving 18 people hurt. Among the vehicles were a Hi-Ace taxi carrying ten passengers and a police bakkie from the Hillbrow police station.
