Eskom chief executive officer Brian Dames and five others suffered minor injuries when their helicopter crashed near Morwaneng, 45km from Groblersdal on Tuesday, paramedics said.
“All six occupants managed to escape before the helicopter caught fire,” Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said.
The men were treated at the scene, and declined to go to hospital.
“There was no damage done to any nearby properties. Only a burnt-out helicopter.”
Eskom spokesperson Hilary Joffe said in a statement Dames was travelling with divisional executive Steve Lennon, acting divisional executive Louis Maleka, senior manager Kerseri Pather and two pilots when the helicopter crashed.
The cause of the accident would be investigated, she said. — Sapa
