THAILAND wants to double trade with South Africa over the next few years, the country’s trade minister, Adisai Bodharamik, said in Johannesburg on Thursday. Bodharamik, speaking at Thailand’s Trade Exhibition at the Sandton Convention Centre, in northern Johannesburg, said trade between the two countries had exceeded $400-million during the last few years with significant growth recorded in 2000. “Last year saw a substantial increase in trade to $679-million and trade is expected to further increase this year,” he said. South Africa is Thailand’s biggest trading partner in Africa and ranks 30th of its trade partners world-wide. South African Trade and Industry Minister Alec Erwin and Bodharamik are to sign a trade agreement on Friday.
