One of the men jailed for the January murder of KwaZulu-Natal historian David Rattray was back in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of armed robbery.
This time Sibusiso Fethe Nkwanyana (23) faces charges in connection with a robbery at the Rorke’s Drift Museum on December 3 2006.
It is alleged that Nkwanyana and others held up staff at the museum at gunpoint, used force and made off with R11 765.
Nkwanyana applied for legal aid and his case was remanded until March 6 in order for his legal-aid application to be processed.
Nkwanyana was jailed for 25 years on February 5 after pleading guilty to his part in Rattray’s murder during a botched armed robbery on January 26 at the historian’s home near Rorke’s Drift.
Nkwanyana’s co-accused in the Rattray murder, Simphiwe Ndlovu, also made a brief appearance in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Ndlovu is facing charges of raping two girls, aged 13 and 16, near Nqutu in 2005. Last week he was denied bail.
Ndlovu’s case was postponed to April 10 following further investigation and a decision by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ndlovu has denied any involvement in the Rattray murder and that case against him continues.
Another accused in the Rattray case, Thembinkosi Ndlovu (24), pleaded guilty and was jailed for 25 years on February 22. He admitted firing the shots which killed Rattray. — Sapa
