The South African Football Association (Safa) has appointed a new referees’ technical committee following the arrest of some top referees and club officials by the police on allegations of match-fixing and bribery.
The committee, which is tasked to appoint referees and assistants for the Premiership and First Division matches, will be chaired by Phillip Masemola.
Former professional referees Stan Swart, David Rasebopye and Adeel Carelse have also been included in the committee.
Other members include Ibrahim Jacobs, Terry Downward and Roger Dlomo.
Safa referees committee chairperson Lesole Gadinabokao said the new technical committee has been given 14 days to come up with a list of referees for the new season.
