No bail for teenager’s murderers: community

THE Kleinvlei community police forum and a forum of churches from Blackheath, Blue Downs and Eerste River on Thursday petitioned judicial authorities to refuse bail for the alleged murderers of teenager Valencia Farmer.

Farmer, (14) was gang-raped, stabbed 42 times and left for dead in a derelict house on June 27. She died in Tygerberg hospital early the next day.

Glenville Faro, (18) Johannes Kriel, (25) Albert Frieslaar, (30) a 15-year-old youth, Elmario Maasdorp, (21) and Franklyn Roberts, (19) all appeared in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on Thursday in connection with Farmer’s murder.

The Kleinvlei community police forum’s petition warned the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court it had a duty to protect the interests of the community, while the church forum demanded the community’s constitutional right to protection from the perpetrators of evil.

The petition said the community had reached the end of the line with crime, especially serious crime involving the loss of life.

A bail application by the accused is expected to be launched in the Parow Regional Court on July 19.

They were informed of the bail hearing date on Thursday during their brief court appearance.
