The coalition was working towards toppling the IFP through a motion of no confidence in IFP mayors in hung municipalities
The party was disqualified from participating in the August 3 elections after it failed to make a payment to the IEC before its deadline.
The NFP held a special national working committee meeting and resolved to suspend several senior leaders, while the chair and deputy chair resigned.
The party’s spokesperson Sabelo Sibugu said the NFP isn’t broke, but missed the IEC deadline because of a leadership crisis within the party.
Greed had overshadowed the IFP’s achievement at the Okhahlamba municipality, Inkatha Freedom Party leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi said on Saturday.
