Virodene team ‘less than truthful’

MINE VIOLENCE LOOMS THE National Union of Mineworkers has called on police to prevent violence between its own members and a militant rival group called Workers Mouthpiece at the Amplats mine in Rustenburg. The NUM accused mine management of collaborating with the “small gang”, resulting in assaults on its branch leaders.

SWAZI PAPER THREATENED THE Swaziland government has ordered all state departments to cease advertising in the country’s only independent newspaper, The Swaziland Times,following an article last week that said the king had not paid rates on properties he owned. Half the paper’s revenue comes from state advertising.

QUIT, SAYS BLACK NAT ONE of the National Party’s few black MPs, David Chuenyane, yesterday called on FW De Klerk and the entire leadership to resign for failing to transform the party and appoint blacks to decision-making positions. The call follows the weekend resignation of “verligte” NP leader Roelf Meyer.
