WEDNESDAY, 11.00AM:
THE Nelson Mandela Inauguration Challenge Cup against Holland kicks off at 7.30pm at FNB Stadium tonight, and newly recalled Bafana Bafana striker Mark Williams will go all out to play his best.
“I’m not going to allow myself to be put under pressure. On the contrary, I’m going to enjoy and savour the moment. Sure this is a big game for me, but I don’t believe I have any point to prove to anybody,” Williams said.
SA coach Clive Barker said he is using this match experience as part of his build-up for the World Cup finals in France. He hasn’t yet revealed the team line-up to play tonight.
New SA director of coaching Horst Kriete said Bafana Bafana need to experience the pressure of having the match against Holland just five days before the World Cup qualifier against Zambia on Saturday. He said tonight’s match is good practice, and dismissed the idea that the players may be injured.
“Players can get injured in training, it’s all part and parcel of the game.”
