TUESDAY, 8.35AM:
VAAL Professionals linkman Jabu Mnguni is the new Bafana Bafana star, said coach Clive Barker on their arrival from Germany where they lost 0-3 to Germany on Saturday.
Barker said Mnguni put up a sterling perfomance against the three-time world champions and now has been earmarked for a starting line-up against Brazil on December 7 at Ellis Park Stadium. “It was a tough lesson. But it’s not all doom and gloom. There were some positive aspects. I was very pleased with Jabu Mnguni on his debut. We also now know how vulnerable we are to high crosses on the near posts. My priority is to correct that,” said Barker.
Mnguni thanked the old members of the team for encouraging him on his debut. “I was pleased with the encouragement I received from players such as Lucas Radebe and Phil Masinga. They really helped me,” said the 24-year old Mnguni.
Barker said he has no excuse for the loss as they played a better team on the day.
