A FUMBLING Springbok midweek squad sufered their second defeat at the hands of France A at the Stadel Mayol on Tuesday night. France A who led 13-7 at half time, won the game 21-7.
The game, reminicent of last week’s, was marked by too many mistakes. Within the first 10 minutes South Africa made two quick runs to the French line but failed to score. Breaks from Thinus Delport and Breyton Paulse could have given the South Africans an early lead but the French were too quick to clear the danger.
The French opened the score in the 15th minute when flyhalf Benoit Bellot slotted in a penalty and a converted try by Thiery Cleda increased the score.South Africa were trying all in their power and were rewarded when Franco Smith scored under the posts in the first half stoppage time.
With 15 minutes remaining the French had opened a 21-7 lead. Trying to find the right combimnation coach Nick Mallett pulled pulled out Dale Santon for Naka Drotske in the 26th minute.
