Border 103 without loss at lunch

OWN CORRESPONDENT, Johannesburg | Friday 11.45am.

BORDER’s opening batting pair of Brad White and Craig Sugden put their team in the healthy position of 103 without loss at lunch on the opening day of their three day fixture against the West Indies at Buffalo Park in East London.

Border earlier won the toss and elected to bat, but the West Indies lost out on the wicket of White with his score on three when he ws dropped at second slip by Darren Ganga.

The partnership, which was worth nine at that point, moved on to 100. White was again let off the hook when umpire Wilf Diedericks turned down a confident caught-behind appeal just when White appeared to walk.

White’s score was on 50, his third of the season, while Sugden’s score was on 48 at the break.
