Chiefs beat Swallows 1-0

OWN CORRESPONDENT, Johannesburg | Sunday 10.00pm.

KAIZER Chiefs struggled against Moroka Swallows in their Premier Soccer League match played at the Johannesburg Stadium on Sunday, eventually running out 1-0 winners after Marc Batchelor scored the winning goal in the 39th minute.

Batchelor connected well with a square pass from Robert Nauseb and fird home.

Both teams spoiled golden opportunities through indifferent shooting, with Thabang Lebese and Siyabonga Nomvethe the most wayward of the Chiefs players.

Swallows tried hard to get the equaliser, but could not breach the Chiefs defence.

The win gives Chiefs the opportunity to narrow the gap at the top of the table, while Swallows slip even further downwards.

Swallows’ Hilali Shabani was the only player booked by referee Raymond Rogers for an infringement.
