THE South Africa Under-19 rugby team survived a withering onslaught from a Boland Under-20 side, to win 18-5 after leading 10-5 at the break. The match was an excellent “acid Test” for the Under-19 side as they prepare for the Fira Junior World Cup in Wales later this month, the South African Rugby Football Union said on Friday. It seemed Under-19 squad were in for an easy night — tries came from captain and eighth man Johan van Niekerk and winger Jaco Henning. Tiaan Snyman, or “Young Naas” as he is becoming to be known, landed a conversion and two penalties. Boland wing Warren Petersen rounded off a sustained period of pressure in the second half with a try.
