MOUNTAIN FIRE THREATENS CAPE TOWN

CAPE Town firefighters were stretched to the limit on Thursday after a fire broke out on Devil’s Peak on Wednesday, threatening houses in Cape Town’s city bowl. The air force has said it will send a helicopter to help fight the fire if necessary. The blaze is the third veld fire to hit the southern Cape recently. Two other blazes are still burning — now reportedly under control — one in the mountains above Franschhoek and the other above Fish Hoek on False Bay.
