ZIMBABWE’S hopes of winning a second chance to be the hosts of next year’s African Nations Cup rest on a meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Conakry, Guinea, on Monday. Zimbabwe were stripped of the right to host the 2000 finals last month after the CAF said their preparations were inadequate. But the CAF president Issa Hayatou agreed to review the decision after a plea from a delegation led by Zimbabwean government representatives at a meeting with confederation officials in Ghana. The CAF’s executive committee will look at bids from Ghana, Morocco and Nigeria as well as reviewing Zimbabwe’s case to host the 16-nation event, which runs from January 22 to February 13.
