OZ TAKES HOCKEY SERIES

AUSTRALIA’S domination of a hockey test series with SA is complete. Three goals in the space of nine minutes in the second half put Australia on course for a 6-3 win over South Africa in Cape Town on Saturday. The win clinched a 4-1 victory in the series for the tourists. They lost their opening match in Pretoria shortly after stepping off the plane but have been in dominant form since. South Africa held the visitors for the opening 45 minutes of the final match. They took a sixth minute lead through Gareth Murray which was cancelled out before the interval by the first of two from Australia’s Lachlan Vivian-Taylor. But 10 minutes after the interval Australia’s Michael Brennan (2) and Jay Stacy found their way through an overstretched defence in quick succession to put the result beyond doubt.
