SADC BACKS KABILA

THE Southern African Inter-State Defence and Security Committee on Monday reaffirmed its support for President Laurent Kabila’s government of the Democratic Republic of Congo. However the SADC sub-committee expressed concern about the effect the conflict in Angola, Lesotho and the Democratic Republic of Congo is having on regional stability. The Committee called on Rwanda and Uganda to cease support of rebels who have been fighting to topple Kabila since last August.
