HILLARY IN LUXOR

UNITED States first lady Hillary Clinton visited the Luxor temple in Egypt on Wednesday where 58 foreign tourists were massacred in November 1997. Egyptian officials are hoping that the visit will provide a shot in the arm to a tourist industry damaged by the Luxor massacre. Fifty-eight tourists, most of them Swiss, and four Egyptians were gunned down on November 17 1997 outside the temple on Luxor’s west bank by six militants from the armed Islamic fundamentalist group Jamaa Islamiyya. Clinton, who is accompanied by her daughter, Chelsea, is to visit Tunisia and Morocco before wrapping up her North African tour on April 1.
