HIGH profile leader of the Hard Livings gang, Rashied Staggie, is in hospital on Thursday afternoon after being shot outside his home in what appears to be a drive-by shooting. Police spokeperson Captain Anine de Beer told ZA*NOW that the shooting took place outside Staggie’s Oletta Court home on the Cape Flats at around 1.15pm. She said Staggie was driving a minibus when the occupants of a second car fired on him before speeding off. He was hit in the stomach and arm by two bullets. De Beer said Staggie was taken to hospital in a private car where he is an serious but stable condition. De Beer said the shooting is linked to the on-going gang violence on the Cape flats. Staggie’s brother Rashaad, a prominent drug trafficker and gang leader was publicly shot and burned by members of vigilante group People Against Gangsterism and Drugs during an anti-drugs protest in August 1996.
